Veronika Pokoptceva is an award-winning film director and screenwriter based in Berlin. She studied directing at the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television and took part in international exchange programmes at Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, the University of Bedfordshire and Karelia University of Applied Sciences. After moving to Germany, she completed a BA in Digital Film Production at SAE Institute Berlin in collaboration with the University of Hertfordshire.

Veronika develops her films primarily from her own screenplays. Her work explores identity, belonging and family relationships, as well as pressing social issues such as discrimination, violence, and poverty. 

Her documentary short “Prima. Elisa Carrillo Cabrera” was screened at more than twenty international film festivals, received several awards and was presented at FIPADOC in Biarritz. The film was also broadcast by Canal 22 in Mexico, reaching an audience of more than two million viewers.

Alongside developing her own fiction and documentary projects, Veronika has worked across production and post-production. Most recently, she worked as a production assistant on the feature film “Ungeduld des Herzens”, winner of the main prize at the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival.
